Miss Botswana 2026, Magdeline Angel Modipane, commemorated the Day of the African Child through a meaningful community outreach initiative at Kgafela Primary School, reaffirming her commitment to child welfare, empowerment and community development.
Through her Beauty with a Purpose project, Tlhokomelo, a platform dedicated to child welfare, care and community upliftment, Magdeline donated blankets and essential care packs to 50 learners. The initiative aimed to provide warmth, dignity and much-needed support to vulnerable children while reminding them that they are valued and cared for.
In celebration of this year’s Day of the African Child theme, the programme also featured a public speaking competition designed to empower learners to use their voices confidently, share their perspectives and engage in conversations that shape their future. The competition provided a platform for young minds to express themselves, encouraging confidence, critical thinking and leadership from an early age.
Ten exceptional learners advanced as finalists, with the top three participants receiving special recognition for their outstanding performances. The success of the initiative was made possible through the generous support of Sunshine Insurance Company, One Pula Foundation and Book Binder Business Law. Their partnership and contributions played a vital role in ensuring that the event delivered a meaningful and lasting impact for both learners and the Kgafela Primary School community.
Tlhokomelo represents far more than the provision of material support. It is a commitment to nurturing hope, encouraging self-expression and creating opportunities for children to thrive. By investing in their wellbeing, confidence and ability to be heard, the initiative seeks to ensure that every child feels seen, valued and empowered to reach their full potential.
