Meet Miss Botswana 2026 Magdeline Angel Modipane

On the evening of March 21st, 2026, history was made at the iconic Molapo Creative hub as Botswana crowned its new queen under the theme Diamond Jubilee, Botswana at 60. In a night filled with elegance, purpose and celebration, Magdalene Angel Modipane emerged victorious as Miss Botswana 2026, alongside her remarkable court 1st Princess Mosa Gontshwanetse and 2nd Princess Michelle Mayer Bagoleng.

At just 25 years old, Magdeline Angel Modipane is a shining embodiment of intelligence, resilience, and compassion. An accounting student at the University of Botswana, she has consistently proven that beauty and purpose can walk hand in hand. Her crowning moment was not only a celebration of her grace but a testament to her unwavering dedication to meaningful impact.

Magdeline’s journey to the crown has been marked by excellence. She previously earned the title of Miss UB First Princess 2020 and secured a place in the Top 5 at Miss Botswana 2025, where she also took home the Top Modelaward. Her persistence, growth, and commitment to self-improvement have ultimately led her to the pinnacle of Botswana’s most prestigious pageant stage.

Adding to her triumph on the night, she was also awarded the Miss People’s Choice Award, a reflection of the strong connection she has built with the public, a queen truly chosen by the people.

At the heart of her reign lies her Beauty with a Purpose project, Tlhokomelo, word meaning “care.” Through this initiative, Magdeline addresses the critical issue of child neglect by focusing on education, protection, and empowerment. She has taken practical steps by authoring and distributing children’s rights booklets in both English and Setswana, ensuring accessibility and awareness across communities. Her work is further strengthened through collaboration with social workers and the Botswana Police Service, helping to create safer environments and support systems for vulnerable children.

Magdeline’s vision is clear and powerful: to ensure that every child is seen, heard and protected.

Standing beside her are two exceptional young women who complete the Miss Botswana 2026 royal court. 1st Princess Mosa Gontshwanetse brings strength, poise, and a shared commitment to advocacy, while 2nd Princess Michelle Mayer Bogoleng embodies grace, intelligence, and passion for community development. Together, the trio represents a dynamic force ready to inspire, lead, and drive meaningful change across Botswana and beyond.

As the new reign begins, the Miss Botswana 2026 titleholders step into their roles not only as ambassadors of beauty, but as voices of purpose, unity, and transformation. Their journey promises to uplift communities, champion important causes, and proudly represent Botswana on both local and international platforms.

Mosa Gontshwanetse is a purpose-driven young leader, recently crowned Miss Botswana 1st Princess, a title that reflects her excellence, resilience, and unwavering commitment to making a meaningful impact in her community and beyond. She represents a generation of young women who are not only ambitious, but intentional about using their platforms to inspire change.

Her journey in pageantry is marked by consistency and growth. She previously earned the title of Miss Independence Botswana 2023 1st Princess and went on to place in the Top 6 at Miss Universe Botswana 2024, demonstrating her dedication, discipline, and ability to excel on competitive national stages.

She is currently pursuing a degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the University of Botswana, where she is equipping herself with the knowledge and strategic thinking required to contribute to sustainable development and economic growth. Her academic journey is grounded in her belief that education is a powerful catalyst for transformation.

Rooted in strong family values, Mosa credits her upbringing for shaping her into the woman she is today. The principles of humility, discipline, and compassion continue to guide her as she navigates her personal growth and public role.

A passionate contemporary dancer, Mosa uses movement as a form of expression and storytelling. Through dance, she celebrates her African identity and remains connected to her cultural heritage, embracing creativity as a powerful tool for communication and connection.

Mosa is also the founder of Future Labs, an initiative under her foundation, Mosa Global Impact, focused on empowering young people through innovation, mentorship, and skills development. The project creates accessible spaces where youth can explore technology, creative thinking, and problem-solving, equipping them with the tools to transform their ideas into impactful solutions. Through this initiative, Mosa is actively contributing to shaping a future where young people are empowered to lead and innovate.

As Miss Botswana 1st Princess, Mosa Gontshwanetse embodies grace, intelligence, and purpose. She continues to use her voice and platform to advocate for youth development, inspire her peers, and represent Botswana with pride, authenticity, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Michelle Mayer Bagoleng

MISS BOTSWANA 2026 – 2ND PRINCESS

Michelle Mayer Bagoleng is a 25 year old from Serowe, currently pursuing a Master of Science at the University of Botswana where she also completed her undergraduate studies. She serves as a Teaching Assistant and Junior Researcher, with research interests focused on building a greener economy and advancing water sustainability through approaches such as virtual water metrics.

Her passion for education extends beyond academics, as she is committed to empowering young people. Through her Beauty With a Purpose initiative, she provides career guidance and support to help youth make informed and confident decisions about their futures.

From an early age, Michelle has embraced a well rounded path. In secondary school, she was actively involved in the athletics team and participated in various activities including drama, volleyball, and other school clubs. Michelle began her pageant journey as young as 8, she entered Miss Teen Universe Botswana in 2015 at the age of 15 and won the title. She later competed in Miss Botswana 2021, where she was crowned First Princess. With determination and a desire for growth, she returned to the competition this year and was named Second Princess.

Outside of her professional and academic work, Michelle has a strong interest in fitness and wellness. She enjoys hiking and going to the gym and values the joy of staying active alongside her friends. She also has a keen interest in personal development, mentorship and creating spaces where young people can feel seen, guided and inspired.

In all that she does she believes in a holistic approach which is guided by the understanding that the world is interconnected and that solutions should reflect that interconnectedness.

Ruth Thomas

MISS BOTSWANA 2025

Ms. Ruth Thomas, 23 years old from Masunga is the reigning Miss Botswana 2025. Raised in Francistown in a faith-driven, humble home, she credits her strong Christian upbringing, especially her mother’s sacrifices for shaping her character and leadership. Ruth studies Clothing and Textile under SPEDU and is a Beauty Advisor trained in Beauty Basics through Clicks.

Her Beauty With A Purpose project, The Beauty Movement, challenges rigid beauty
standards and promotes self-worth and empowerment among women and girls. Rooted in deep faith, Ruth sees her crowning as a fulfillment of prayer and divine purpose. She
believes in celebrating differences as strengths and advocates for women to embrace their value beyond appearance or background.

As she prepares for Miss World 2025, Ruth aims to represent Botswana’s warmth, culture, and resilience while inspiring others through her story of humility, purpose, and unwavering faith.

ANICIA TEBOGO GAOTHUSI

MISS BOTSWANA 2024

Anicia Tebogo Gaothusi is a passionate and purpose-driven young woman, celebrated for
her work as a health advocate, pageant queen and youth empowerment ambassador.
Crowned Miss World Botswana 2024, Anicia proudly represented the nation at the 72nd
Miss World Festival in Hyderabad, India in 2025, where she earned a spot in the Top 10
Miss World Africa waving the Botswana flag with pride.

Her pageantry journey began in 2019 when she was crowned the first-ever Miss Teen
Botswana, later claiming the Miss Teen International 2nd Princess and Miss Teen
Multimedia titles, making her Miss Teen Africa. Through her impactful Beauty With A
Purpose project “Lights”, inspired by her grandmother, Anicia has championed access to
primary healthcare and first aid education across Botswana. Her reign has been marked by
compassion, leadership and a deep commitment to uplifting communities.

Lesego Chombo

Miss Botswana 2022

Lesego Chombo is a dynamic and multifaceted individual, excelling as a promotional model, entrepreneur, speaker, musician, philanthropist, lawyer and accomplished pageant titleholder. She first gained recognition as Queen Esther in 2012 and proudly claimed the title of Miss Women Empowerment in 2017. Her journey reached new heights in 2022 when she was crowned Miss World Botswana, representing her country at the 71st Miss World pageant in India.

Lesego captivated audiences with her exceptional performance, finishing in the Top 25 at the Head-To-Head Challenge and earning the prestigious title of 71st Miss World Africa after coming in Top 4, making her the second motswana to achieve this honor following Emma Wareus. Through her Lesego Chombo Foundation, she continues to make a meaningful impact in her community, empowering others and inspiring change.

Palesa Molefe

Miss Botswana 2021

Palesa Molefe is a multi-talented actress, writer and producer dedicated to advocating for mental health and personal development. Crowned Miss Botswana in 2021, Palesa represented her country at Miss World, where she won the Head-To-Head challenge fast track, placed in the Top 27 for the Talent competition and reached the Top 32 in Sports.

Passionate about empowering the next generation, she inspires young people through her work and has authored “O Sure? O Shapo?”, an affirmation book designed to uplift and encourage children. Palesa continues to be a beacon of hope and inspiration, using her platform to make a positive impact in the community.

Oweditse Gofaone Phirinyane

Miss Botswana 2019

Oweditse Phirinyane affectionately known as ‘Fafah’ is a distinguished beauty queen with a remarkable pageantry background. She first rose to prominence as Miss Botho University 1st Princess in 2013/14 and later claimed the 2nd Princess title at Miss Private Tertiary Institutions 2013/14, followed by Miss Grand International Botswana 2nd Princess in 2014.

In 2016, she was crowned Miss Heritage Botswana and went on to achieve 3rd runner up at Miss Heritage Global 2017, also earning the title Miss Heritage Global Humanity Ambassador. Her crowning achievement came in 2019 when she was crowned Miss Botswana in Selibe Phikwe, representing Botswana at the 69th Miss World in London, United Kingdom.
