In a remarkable and insightful journey, our reigning Queen, Ruth Thomas, alongside her Princesses Selwana Motlatsi Motsemeng and Girly Bone Kookilwe embarked on an exclusive visit to Lucara Botswana’s Karowe Mine, home to some of the world’s most magnificent and record-breaking diamonds.

The delegation had the rare opportunity to stand at the edge of the historic open pit, where some of the biggest diamonds ever discovered, including globally acclaimed stones were unearthed. Guided by the Lucara Botswana team, the visit provided a deeper understanding of Karowe Mine’s legacy, its contribution to Botswana’s reputation as the world’s diamond capital and the meticulous journey each diamond takes from the earth to the global stage.

This unforgettable experience offered our Queen and Princesses not only knowledge, but also a renewed sense of pride. They learned firsthand the story of Botswana’s excellence, the story of diamonds that do more than shine, they uplift communities, strengthen the economy and reflect our nation’s brilliance.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Lucara Botswana for their warm hospitality and the unique experience provided. From flying private to engaging in informative mine tours and discussions the day was filled with learning, inspiration and national pride.

A special thank you also to the Managing Director, Ms. Naseem Lahri for accompanying Our Queen, Princesses and the Executive Director of Miss World Botswana, Mr Benjamin Raletsatsi, who accompanied the delegation and continues to ensure that the Miss World Botswana platform remains a gateway to empowerment, cultural diplomacy and meaningful representation.
Thank you, Lucara Botswana, for hosting our Queen, our Princesses and for sharing with us the shining story of Botswana’s diamonds.
Botswana continues to shine and our royalty will carry this story proudly, wherever they go.
