Project name: THE SILENT MAN PROJECT: Breaking the Silence on Gender-Based Violence

Gender-based violence (GBV) often highlights the experiences of women and children, who statistically face higher rates of violence. However, the silent suffering of male victims is just as significant and deserves equal attention. Men, from a young age, are often taught to be strong, emotionless, and invulnerable, reinforcing harmful societal norms that prevent them from speaking out about their experiences with violence. These norms cultivate the silence that many men harbor when it comes to gender-based violence.

The Silent Men Project, a campaign focused on breaking the silence around male victims of GBV. Under the theme “The Silent Man,” this project is dedicated to raising awareness and creating a space for men to share their stories and seek help.

Breaking the Silence, Making a Difference

Our goal is to encourage male victims of GBV to step forward, speak up, and break free from the chains of silence that society has placed on them. The campaign aims to spread awareness of the often-overlooked issue of male victimhood within the context of gender-based violence, amplifying the voices of those who have long been silenced. Through social media platforms, spreading the hashtag #BreakingTheSilence, to inspire individuals to speak out, support victims, and bring the issue into the public discourse.

The Silent Man: A Sponsored Walk for Change

To further this cause, organizing a sponsored walk called #WalkForChange to raise awareness and funds for male victims of GBV. This walk will serve as both a symbolic and practical means of advocating for men who suffer in silence. By coming together and physically moving through our communities, It aims to spark conversations and build solidarity around breaking the silence on gender-based violence.

As we walk, we carry the message that men too suffer in silence, and that no one should endure abuse alone, regardless of their gender. Together, we can create a world where all victims, regardless of gender, feel empowered to speak out, seek support, and find healing.
