In the heart of Goodhope, a remarkable transformation unfolded one that turned an ordinary classroom into a hub of life-saving knowledge and hope. Miss World Botswana 2024, Anicia Gaothusi, walked into Lotlamoreng Junior Secondary School not just wearing a crown, but carrying a mission: to empower young people with the tools to save lives.
As part of her Beauty With a Purpose initiative, Anicia conducted an engaging First Aid workshop, equipping students with essential emergency response skills. The atmosphere buzzed with curiosity and purpose as learners immersed themselves in hands-on demonstrations of CPR, injury management, and critical first-response protocols.
This powerful session wasn’t a standalone effort. It is part of a broader, growing movement under Anicia’s Lights Foundation, now active in four schools across Botswana in collaboration with Life Flight Rescue. Lights is more than an initiative it’s a commitment to build a nation of informed, prepared, and confident youth, particularly in areas where medical resources may not always be readily available.
Anicia’s work directly champions the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, as well as the fundamental right of every child to health education. She is creating ripple effects far beyond the classroom instilling a sense of duty, resilience, and care in the next generation.
