Serving as professional beauty advisor has been such an eye opener in regard to beauty subjects and concerns surrounding women and young girls.It is alarming how a good number of women are desperately governed by insecurities and constantly slaving away to the idea of beauty standards.This project was inspired by my understanding of the power that beauty holds in ours lives as women.
Today’s criticism, bullying and constantly being compared to perfection has caused many to lead unproductive lives due to lack of pride and confidence in their nature.
This is a harzard to our families and community because women affected by such cases tend to raise incapable, incompetent and insecure children so this is a national and economic crisis because you can not give what you do not have.
THE BEAUTY MOVEMENT,is basically my approach to creating a safe space for women around the concept of beauty especially our vitiligo community, burn survivors and women with permanent scars.The idea is to dive into the true nature of what beauty is .I believe women are art and our difference is our freedom.Teaching women that beauty is not a standard but a choice ,a choice of self acceptance ,it is not the absence of imperfections but constantly loving every part of you.
#WOMEN STAND BY WOMEN TO BECOME VICTORS AND NOT VICTIMS TO BULLIES,CRITICS, AND UNREALISTIC BEAUTY STARDARDS.
Remember that Botswana is a beauty country not only because of our wildlife, landscapes and diamonds but because of our women.
Empowering women through beauty is a key to infinite possibilities in their personal, professional, social and financial lives.
I dream of a Botswana were every woman feels belonging,capable,important,seen,heard and accepted regardless of what they look like .We are all more than what we look like.Apearence is good for greetings, but character, intellect, principles, abilities, and substance of self is mandatory for sustainability.
The only way to ensure women are safe on social media and the community is to not just to educate but introduce action, laws, policies and accountability when dealing with bullies, perpetrators and empathy lacking individuals who destroy lives, crush women’s dreams and pushing them to suicide while they hide behind their screens.
THE BEAUTY MOVEMENT IS HERE TO STAY
NB:women were crafted differently so they all get to shine in their own right and for that they deserve to be liberated in their beauty.
We are wonderfully and fearfully made to stand out. Acceptance for ourselves and others is key.
