Miss Botswana has proudly launched the “Ambassadors for Social Change” initiative, a groundbreaking program in partnership with the A Re Chengcheng Campaign from the Office of the President. This innovative initiative aims to redefine beauty in Botswana by integrating it will the country’s cultural and economic identity, white fostering leadership and promoting sustainable development among young women.
At the forefront of this transformative journey are the Miss Botswana 2024 Top 10 finalists, including the reigning queen Miss Botswana 2024, Aniciaa Gaothusi. These remarkable young women will become the Ambassadors of Social Change, carrying the spirit of social responsibility and community development to their hometowns.
Kaene Disebo, A Re Chengcheng Youth Engagement Lead, spoke on the initiative’s far- reaching goals, stating,
“The Ambassadors for Social Change stand as proof that collaboration can work. What we want is that every single Top 10 contestant’s community project doesn’t die at the podium. We are encouraging them with resources to ensure their projects continue to grow, along with skills development and capacity building to make sure their projects are sustainable and leave a lasting legacy.”
This initiative goes beyond the traditional beauty pageant. The Miss Botswana auditions have become a platform for discovering local talent and industry potential, as each visit to a village uncovers new opportunities. This aligns with the organization’s commitment to fostering change and promoting community engagement, vehicle bridging gaps in digitalization and content creation, ensuring Botswana keeps pace with global trends.
In addition to leadership development, the “Ambassadors for Social Change” initiative emphasizes community engagement, encouraging contestants to actively lead and participate in sustainable development projects. It highlights the importance of sustainable practices, including waste management and works towards enhancing the global marketability of indigenous products by celebrating and showcasing local traditions.
