Ruth Thomas Crowned Miss Botswana 2025

In a night brimming with elegance, purpose and national pride, Ruth Thomas 23 year-old from Masunga was crowned Miss Botswana 2025 at the spectacular Grand Finale held at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) on the 23rd of March in Gaborone. The glittering crown was passed down by Anicia Gaothusi, the reigning Miss World Botswana 2024, who will be representing the nation at the 72nd Miss World Festival from the 7th to the 31st of May in Hyderabad, India.

Selwana Motlatsi Motsemeng claimed the second spot while Girly Bone Kookilwe took the third place, together, the trio captured the essence of the Miss Botswana platform with grace, resilience and a commitment to impactful change.

Ruth will now embark on her journey to represent Botswana on the global stage at the 73rd Miss World Festival in 2026.

MISS BOTSWANA 2025 – 1ST PRINCESS

Arts Coordinator | Child Protection Advocate | Performer | Foundation Director
A multi-faceted creative and community leader, I am passionate about the intersection of art, advocacy, and social impact. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Acting I serve as an Arts
Coordinator at DawnBell Academy and I am aJunior Dancer with Mophato Dance Theatre.

I am a Choreographer and Producer of note delivering dynamic performances across theatre, film, and live events. I am known for using storytelling as a tool for empowerment and change.

My advocacy journey began at the age of 8, when I stood in court to testify against a man who molested my friend in my presence. That moment ignited a life-long mission: to protect, educate, and empower children and youth.

I have worked with Walk of Hope Botswana,Re Aga Mmogo Rehabilitation Centre,The World Group, and the Botswana Police Service, leading and supporting nationwide child protection and wellness initiatives. In 2017 I was formally recognized for my leadership and patriotism by the former Speaker of the National Assembly, Mme Gladys Kokorwe.

Driven by purpose, I founded Wise Up Monana in 2019, a youth-led platform focused on
HIV/AIDS awareness and access to youth-friendly health services. In 2022, I launched the SelwanaSkylar Foundation, committed to combating child abuse through advocacy,
education, and community engagement.

As the 1st Princess of Miss Botswana 2025 I use my platform to amplify voices, advocate for wellness and equality, and empower young people, especially girls, to rise with courage and purpose.

MISS BOTSWANA 2025 – 2ND PRINCESS

Girly Bone Kookilwe is a passionate and accomplished pageant queen with over 11 years of experience in the pageantry industry, holding more than 17 prestigious titles. She is also a professional picture model, having been featured in several notable publications across Botswana. Girly is the visionary Founder and Director of Your Door Clinic, a humanitarian initiative dedicated to bridging health disparities and uplifting vulnerable communities. Her project received national acclaim, earning the esteemed Beauty With a Purpose award at Miss Botswana.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Promotion and Education and currently serves as a Dental Surgery Assistant, combining her academic background with hands-on healthcare work to make a meaningful difference. Among all her accolades, her proudest achievement is being crowned Miss Botswana 2025 2nd Princess, a title that reflects her purpose-driven leadership, compassion, and commitment to service. Girly continues to use every platform on stage, in clinics, and within communities to inspire impact and champion change.

ANICIA TEBOGO GAOTHUSI

MISS BOTSWANA 2024

Anicia Tebogo Gaothusi is a passionate and purpose-driven young woman, celebrated for
her work as a health advocate, pageant queen and youth empowerment ambassador.
Crowned Miss World Botswana 2024, Anicia proudly represented the nation at the 72nd
Miss World Festival in Hyderabad, India in 2025, where she earned a spot in the Top 10
Miss World Africa waving the Botswana flag with pride.

Her pageantry journey began in 2019 when she was crowned the first-ever Miss Teen
Botswana, later claiming the Miss Teen International 2nd Princess and Miss Teen
Multimedia titles, making her Miss Teen Africa. Through her impactful Beauty With A
Purpose project “Lights”, inspired by her grandmother, Anicia has championed access to
primary healthcare and first aid education across Botswana. Her reign has been marked by
compassion, leadership and a deep commitment to uplifting communities.

Lesego Chombo

Miss Botswana 2022

Lesego Chombo is a dynamic and multifaceted individual, excelling as a promotional model, entrepreneur, speaker, musician, philanthropist, lawyer and accomplished pageant titleholder. She first gained recognition as Queen Esther in 2012 and proudly claimed the title of Miss Women Empowerment in 2017. Her journey reached new heights in 2022 when she was crowned Miss World Botswana, representing her country at the 71st Miss World pageant in India.

Lesego captivated audiences with her exceptional performance, finishing in the Top 25 at the Head-To-Head Challenge and earning the prestigious title of 71st Miss World Africa after coming in Top 4, making her the second motswana to achieve this honor following Emma Wareus. Through her Lesego Chombo Foundation, she continues to make a meaningful impact in her community, empowering others and inspiring change.

Palesa Molefe

Miss Botswana 2021

Palesa Molefe is a multi-talented actress, writer and producer dedicated to advocating for mental health and personal development. Crowned Miss Botswana in 2021, Palesa represented her country at Miss World, where she won the Head-To-Head challenge fast track, placed in the Top 27 for the Talent competition and reached the Top 32 in Sports.

Passionate about empowering the next generation, she inspires young people through her work and has authored “O Sure? O Shapo?”, an affirmation book designed to uplift and encourage children. Palesa continues to be a beacon of hope and inspiration, using her platform to make a positive impact in the community.

Oweditse Gofaone Phirinyane

Miss Botswana 2019

Oweditse Phirinyane affectionately known as ‘Fafah’ is a distinguished beauty queen with a remarkable pageantry background. She first rose to prominence as Miss Botho University 1st Princess in 2013/14 and later claimed the 2nd Princess title at Miss Private Tertiary Institutions 2013/14, followed by Miss Grand International Botswana 2nd Princess in 2014.

In 2016, she was crowned Miss Heritage Botswana and went on to achieve 3rd runner up at Miss Heritage Global 2017, also earning the title Miss Heritage Global Humanity Ambassador. Her crowning achievement came in 2019 when she was crowned Miss Botswana in Selibe Phikwe, representing Botswana at the 69th Miss World in London, United Kingdom.
